CELEBRATIONG HOLI IN A DIFFERENT WAY

Holi, is not only the festival of colours but also known as the festival of love which celebrates the eternal and divine love of the God krishna and Radha. It is a very significant and popular festivals in Hinduism which marks as the festival of Spring and spread the colours of love and oneness. It is a Hindu festival that has been celebrated since ancient times. The Festival is celebrated as a way to welcome in spring, and also is seen as a new beginning where people can release all their inhibitions and start fresh. It is said that during the Holi Festival, the gods turn a blind eye, and it’s one of the few times extremely devout Hindus allow themselves to let loose.

On such an auspicious day, a 12th grade, GD Goenka student, Manas Gupta decided to make it special for people who are not able to afford two square meals a day. Manas is of the opinion that such days and festivals should be made enjoyable and memorable for all the strata of society and thus believe in equality.

With the help of his free kitchen, HARIOM SEVA, which he has been in the run for quite some time with the support of his family helping him to feed poverty-stricken people and give them happiness for sometime and also make their festivals enjoyable. This free kitchen has been a constant support in Manas’ life and the biggest investment that is giving rewards in terms of happiness, satisfaction and blessings from people.

Thus, on Holi, Manas organised a free kitchen and distributed Dal Makhani(a harmonious blend of black lentil, tomatoes, ginger and garlic- simmered overnight on slow charcoal fire and finished with cream) ,and rice. In a nutshell we can say that ,their day was also filled with colours of love and happiness. Making such efforts on auspicious occasions not only give us peace and satisfaction but also bring  joy in the lives of deprived people around us. Serving humanity is Manas’ concern and he make every effort to instil that colour of hope and life in these people.
